Dress Code:
All Herod students must wear the appropriate school uniform.
Boys:
Red, Navy Blue or white shirt
Navy blue or khaki color pants/shorts or blue jeans
Girls:
Red, Navy Blue or white shirt
Navy blue or khaki color pants/shorts or blue jeans
Navy blue or khaki color skirt or denim skirt
School Entrances
All students enter the building through the front entrance in the morning. All visitors must enter through the front entrance and use the buzzer to request entry. Upon entry, all visitors must check in at the front desk.
Parking
Please pay attention to posted “no parking” signs. And do not park in those areas.
South side of Jason (eastbound)
East side of Pontiac (northbound)
West side of Mullins (southbound)
Any other area in which a no parking sign is posted.
If you do park and walk with your child into school, please use the designated crosswalks.
Morning Drop Off
All children arriving before the 1st bell should proceed to the cafeteria or multi-purpose room to wait with their grade level.
For safety concerns, children should be dropped off in the carpool lane ONLY.
Please DO NOT drive through the teachers parking lot on Mullins to drop children off near the cafeteria. This area is for teachers, busses and child care centers only.
Please DO NOT drop children off in the teacher parking lot in front of the school.
Please DO NOT park in the teacher parking lots and walk your child in to school. If you need to walk your child into the school building, please park on the street and use the crosswalks to walk to the school.
Dismissal
All students are dismissed at 2:50.
PreK, Kinder, 1st and 2nd grades will be can be picked up at the front of the school.
3rd, 4th and 5th grade students can be picked up on Pontiac near the Herod Garden.
Older students with younger siblings can meet them at their classroom and both will be picked up along Pontiac
Breakfast
Breakfast is served in the classroom to every HISD elementary student at no charge. If your child will be eating breakfast at school, please be sure to arrive before 8:00 am. If you do not wish for your child to receive breakfast at school, you must still arrive on time.
Lunch
Students eat lunch with their class at a designated time. Your child may bring a lunch from home or purchase a hot lunch at school. If purchasing lunch, please be sure you have funded your student’s lunch account to avoid a negative or low balance.
Parents are welcome to come and eat lunch with their children on any day except for designated testing days. You must check in at the front desk.
Attendance
Attendance is taken daily at 9:15 am. If your child is absent, you must complete a “pink form” to notifiy the registrar of the date and reason for the absence. You may also receive a phone call from the HISD automated call system alerting you to your child’s absence.
