About PTO
Herod Elementary PTO operates to support the students, the staff and the parents of our school. We are a 501(c)3 organization and your donations made for membership are tax deductible. Every year many of our generous parents volunteer their time and efforts to make our school the great place that it is. Our bylaws and our budget are available for review at anytime.
PTO Meetings
PTO meetings give you the opportunity talk with PTO Board members and get information on what is going on at our school. Our first PTO meeting of the year includes an introduction to the PTO Board members and the PTO budget is presented for approval. Other PTO meetings for the year will be advertised and everyone is always welcome to attend.
Join PTO
The PTO Membership Drive will start in August. We encourage all families to join. Money raised during this membership drive will go to support all of the events and benefits that PTO provides to our students and staff.
PTO Emails
PTO sends about 1-2 emails per week to let you know about upcoming school information, PTO activities and community news. You can subscribe to our emails by clicking the “Join PTO Email List” button on the home page of our website www.herodpto.org.
PTO Website (www.herodpto.org)
PTO is working everyday to update information and improve our website. We hope that you will find our website as a valuable resource to you this year.
PTO Events
PTO organizes many of the events for our families throughout the school year such as, Jet Fest (Meet the Teacher), Movie Night, Kindergarten playdates, Silent Auction, Book Fair and Celebrity readers.
Volunteers
All of the PTO activities are made possible by parent participation. Our parents are part of what makes our school great. If you would like to become more involved, visit the Volunteer Page on the PTO website or email the PTO president. We encourage you to be involved at your child’s school.
Financial Assistance
In recent years, through parent support and fundraising efforts, PTO has been able to purchase over 50 iPads and over 20 iTouches to provide additional learning opportunities for students. In 2013, PTO installed shade covers over our school playground and providing additional landscaping at the front of the school.
PTO also provides financial assistance to teachers to purchase supplies for their classrooms and financial assistance for class parties.
