Yahoo Group
The Herod PTO Yahoo Group is the best way to
stay connected with what’s going on at Herod.
You’ll receive announcements, get opportunities
to volunteer, and have the opportunity to chat
with other parents.
There are two ways to subscribe to the group:
1) Send an email to
herodpto-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
from the address at which you want to
receive group email. Your membership
will be approved by the moderator and
you'll get an introductory email from
Yahoo explaining how the list works.
This option will allow you to receive
group emails and post to the list, but
will not allow you to access the Group
Home Page (see option 2).
2) If you have a Yahoo ID and password,
you can receive and send list emails and
access the Group Home Page, where you
can manage your membership and view
files and pictures. Many people already
have a Yahoo ID and password. If you do,
login to Yahoo and navigate to the Group
Home Page at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/herodpto.
Click on "Join this Group" and
follow the prompts. Be sure to verify
the email address selected; Yahoo often
defaults to Yahoo mail, so unless you
check Yahoo mail regularly, you'll want
to specify your primary email address as
the default. Your membership will be
approved by the moderator and you'll
receive an introductory message
explaining how the group works.
If you don't have a Yahoo ID and password, they
are easy to get. Navigate to
http://www.yahoo.com
and click on "Sign in" in the upper left
(look under the “Search” bar). Then click
on "Sign up to Yahoo" and follow the
prompts. As you create your profile, be sure to
verify which email address is your primary email
address; Yahoo tends to default to Yahoo mail,
so if you don't plan to check that regularly,
you'll want to specify your primary email
address as the default. Also, be sure to check
marketing preferences and deselect anything that
sounds like it will be spamming you or
installing things on your computer. All you want
is the Yahoo ID and password, nothing else!!
Once you've received the ID and password, go
through the steps outlined in the first
paragraph of 2.
NOTE: If you do not receive an introductory
message from Yahoo welcoming you to the
group, you
ARE NOT
a member of the group. More than likely, you
have omitted a step in the process..
